SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) – Park and government officials are gathering funding to establish a network of 100 cameras in Marin County open space that will monitor the movement of the North Bay’s wildlife.

The Marin IJ reports that the animal study has the blessing of county supervisors, and will be a collaboration of the Marin Municipal Water District, the National Park Service and California State Parks, among other agencies. the plan would be to place 100 motion-sensitive “Bushnell” cameras in open space and watershed locations to capture both day and night activities of local fauna.

“What we’re really missing at this point is comprehensive wildlife data,” county parks specialist Sam Abercrombie told the IJ. “Rarely has a single project presented an opportunity to fill so many gaps in our knowledge.”
